Third Sunday in Lent Meditation
NOURISHMENT by Ann Kilgore
We have heard about “table values” and inviting everyone to the table in recent sermons and discussions at MUMC. God’s invitation to be nourished through His loving care is certain. “Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters…” The feast of God’s love has been offered abundantly to me, however I am still aware of some empty chairs at the table.
Do you know someone who is not comfortable coming to church? For many years, that someone was myself. I tried to nurture my faith alone; however with limited nourishment I found it difficult to grow in my faith, let alone maintain it. The kindness of several women here, helped to bring me back “to the table”. Now my involvement as one member of the Reconciling Congregation Task Group feeds my faith and gives me new opportunities to grow in my own understanding of God’s steadfast love. I am more mindful than ever, of the magnitude of the table at which God seeks to nourish us with His compassion, forgiveness, and grace. We do need everyone at the table. Can you think of someone who is waiting for an invitation?
