Something for Everyone

We are created to be in community, and at Minnetonka United Methodist Church, we offer a variety of opportunities for you to engage. Some are based on interest or life stage, some are ministry-driven and others are for pursuing and maintaining social connections. Whoever you are, whatever you’re looking for, we want to know and welcome you to our community.

Faith Groups

In faith groups, we grow as Jesus followers, deepen relationships with God and one another, and are spurred on to love our neighbors in word and deed.

All-Church Studies

Once or twice a year, our pastor selects a resource for us to study together to foster connection and spiritual growth. People meet weekly in small groups for prayer and discussion. Topics and themes raised in the study are echoed in the preaching and worship each week. Past studies have included The Art of Neighboring, by Dave Pathak and Dave Runyon, and seasons 1 and 2 of The Chosen, the first-ever multi-season TV series on the life of Jesus.

Book Studies and Classes

Small group studies and classes are offered periodically throughout the year. Choose the short-term group that best fits your schedule. Some past studies have included:

  • Finding Our Way Again: The Return of the Ancient Practices, by Brian McLaren
  • Being Christian: Baptism, Bible, Eucharist, Prayer, by Rowan Williams
  • Disciple Bible Study, by The United Methodist Church

United Women in Faith

We have an active United Women in Faith group that is connected to the larger, global United Women in Faith organization (formerly known as the United Methodist Women, or UMW). Together, they seek to connect and nurture women through Christian spiritual formation, leadership development, creative fellowship and education, all for the purpose of inspiring, influencing and impacting local and global communities. United Women in Faith is driven by God’s love and united in sisterhood to improve the lives of women, children and youth through bold action for justice and community transformation.

Some of the events we’ve hosted to raise money for mission and service organizations have included:

  • Shred It – a shredding truck comes on site and people pay and/or leave monetary donations to make use of it
  • Nothing But Chocolate – a chocolate-based dessert sale extravaganza conveniently held just before Valentine’s Day

Prayer Shawl Knitting Group

11:15 AM – 12:15 PM, first Sunday of the month

The gift of a hand-knitted or -crocheted shawl will bring a smile to the face of someone going through one of life’s challenges. The Prayer Shawl Knitting Group shares its passions and talents by creating these special gifts for people in our community. We meet in the Coffee Commons (in the lobby) after worship on the first Sunday of the month to pray over our work, enjoy fellowship, and share tips. Don’t know how to knit or crochet? We’ll teach you! If interested, please let us know! If you or someone you know could benefit from receiving a prayer shawl, please contact the church office or Pastor Carrie.

Walking with Friends

This group meets on Mondays and Thursdays and walks for an hour each time (about three miles) throughout the spring, summer and fall. An accommodating group, we modify our pacing if necessary to fit the needs of the participants. For us, the conversation and camaraderie are as important as the exercise.

On Mondays, we walk at 6:30 PM. As the timing of the sunset changes, we walk earlier (sometimes starting at 6:00 PM, other times, 5:30 PM). On Thursdays, we start at 9:30 AM.

Minnetonka is home to many fine trails and we try to make the most of them. The group adopted Tamarack Trail in 2022, which means we commit to keeping it clean of debris.

Interested in joining us? Click on the link below and let us know!

An email sharing the details of the week's walks is sent out on Sundays to those who have indicated their desire to participate.
