An Everyday Movement

It's inspiring to see God's creativity, love and generosity on full display! Our church family generously gives of their time, service, talents and financial gifts to God every day. And while Minnetonka United Methodist Church is an extremely grateful recipient of this openhandedness, we encourage you to engage in daily generosity as a way to give back to God, the one from whom all blessings originate. Because we believe faithful and regular giving will deepen your spiritual life and draw you closer to the ultimate giver, we invite you to join us in this movement of everyday generosity!

Whether serving as a Confirmation mentor, using text-to-give, serving meals at Simpson Shelter, staffing the Welcome Desk on a Sunday morning or placing a monetary gift in the Offering plate upon the conclusion of worship, each and every act of giving matters and helps to change the lives of others. Thank you for your generosity

"I am praying that you will put into action the generosity that comes from your faith as you understand and experience all the good things we have in Christ."  - Philemon 1:6

Giving FAQs

Why We Give

As a church, we believe that we are called to respond to and continue the generosity of Jesus by giving extravagantly to God through the ministries of the church. Biblical generosity is not about meeting budgetary needs. It is about a rich and trusting relationship with the living God. Scriptural giving is performed cheerfully and with regularity, from the first portion of all we are given and without pressure or manipulation. Our giving is an expression of our faith and love for Christ and helps to further the gospel with acts of love, service, inclusion and justice.

What is Tithing?

The Bible teaches that tithing is our starting place for giving. The word “tithe” literally means a tenth.” When we give the first 10% of our income through the local church, we are putting God first in our lives. Tithing is an act of worship that expresses our gratitude, faith, and love for God and neighbor. God also encourages us to give offerings beyond our tithe to specific projects at our local church and to other organizations and causes that we personally believe in.

"Everything in heaven and earth is yours, O Lord. Wealth and honor come from you; you are the ruler of all things. In your hands are strength and power to exalt and give strength to all. ‘God, we give you thanks, and praise your glorious name. But who am I, and who are my people that we should be able to give as generously as this? Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand."  - 1 Chronicles 29:12-14
