making Connections with God and One Another

Laying the Foundation

The middle and high school years offer a prime window of opportunity for establishing a foundation of faith. At MUMC, we care about you and want to help you connect your faith with everyday life. From Confirmation classes to mission trips and volunteering to youth group, we want you to have opportunities to grow your faith through conversation, worship, learning, service to others and time in God’s creation. It’s our goal that students will connect with caring peers and adults, find value in blessing others and go into the world with the hope of the gospel.

New to Minnetonka United Methodist Church? While there's no need to sign students up for Confirmation, Strive, Youth Group or Sunday Funday, we do ask that every participant have a completed Student Participation form on file. Save yourself a little time and help us to be prepared by completing the form before you arrive!

Sunday funday

On the first Sunday of most every month, we meet after worship to enjoy lunch and time together. We enjoy hanging out, talking about life’s hard questions, growing in faith and offering one another support during this important phase of life. We have some amazing volunteer leaders who love us and keep coming back to spend time with us!

Wednesday Nights

We offer weekly Wednesday night programming for students in grades 6 through 12 throughout the school year. We begin each night with a large group game or activity from 6:30-7:00 PM. From 7:00-8:0 PM on the first, third and fifth Wednesdays of each month, we separate our middle school and high school students for Confirmation and Strive, respectively. We stay together as one large group on the second and fourth Wednesdays.

Confirmation (grades 6-8*)

Pastor Carrie and adult mentors lead our (primarily) middle school-age students through Confirmation-specific curriculum on the first, third and fifth Wednesdays of each month. (More information below!)

* Sixth through eighth grade students typically make up our Confirmation classes, but we confirm older students too! All are welcome!

Strive (grades 9-12)

High school students constitute Strive, which meets concurrently with Confirmation. Led by Pastor Chris and adult volunteers, we talk about everyday life and faith, play games and tackle service projects on the first, third and fifth Wednesdays of each month.

Youth Group (grades 6-12)

On the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month, our middle and high school students stay together for games and topical discussions with Pastor Chris and other adult volunteers. We believe friendships across all ages are vital to life and faith, and seek to strengthen the bond between all of our students and leaders during this shared time together.

More About Confirmation

As noted above, Confirmation meets weekly from 6:30-8:00 PM. Some weeks feature Confirmation-specific curriculum with Pastor Carrie, and other weeks are devoted to Youth Group, led by Pastor Chris. Move here mid-year or part-way through the Confirmation program? No problem! We'll be glad for you to join us any time! Service projects, large group activities and fun are built into our three-year Confirmation program. Students are often divided into small groups led by adult mentors. We use curriculum that Pastor Carrie has put together (some original material, some borrowed from other curricula), with lessons focused on the Bible, United Methodism and theology. We conclude the night together as one group, Pastor Carrie leads a lesson summary and students are encouraged to stump the pastor with questions about the Bible, faith, United Methodism--most anything is fair game! (There are king-size candy bars for all who successfully stump the pastor!)

Prayer Requests

We know life can be challenging. It can be hard to balance school work and after-school commitments, AP classes and club teams, church and driver's ed, working and college applications. And then there's family and friends and the drama (good and less than positive) that accompanies it all. When you're a student, there's a lot on your plate and sometimes it can feel like the weight on your shoulders gets pretty heavy. Please remember this: God's got you and we're here to support you through it all.

If you'd like to request prayer for yourself or someone else, please let us know. Our staff team prays over these requests each week. We would also be more than happy to talk with you and help you process anything and everything that's going on in your life right now. Bottom line: WE CARE.

mission Trip

Every year, we plan a summer mission trip. In 2022, we went on a mission trip to Milwaukee, Wisconsin and partnered with Next Step Ministries to restore a house and interact with the people of the community in which we were serving. In the summer of 2023, we headed North to Wilderness Canoe Base, where we spent time in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. In 2024, we volunteered at a food pantry, cleared lots, cleaned community buildings, sorted school supplies and more in Kansas City. In 2025, we took a road trip to Colorado Springs, Colorado and again worked with Next Step Ministries painting a house and offering childcare. What’s the plan for this summer’s youth trip? Appalachia! We hope you’ll join us!

I want to support the mission trip!

Volunteer with us
