Becky Vaagenes
Director of Children, Youth and Family Ministries
Becky was born and raised in Minnetonka, Minnesota, and graduated from Minnetonka High School. She went on to study English and Studio Art at St. Olaf College. During her time there she traveled to Rome and Germany to study religion, sparking a profound interest in faith formation. She married her college sweetheart and moved to Oak Park, Illinois where she worked as an aide in the kindergarten classroom at The Children's School. Working at this small progressive education school unearthed a passion for working with children in creative and collaborative ways. She then enjoyed 9 glorious years as a stay-at-home mom raising her three children. After moving back to Minnesota she and her family joined Minnetonka United Methodist Church, where Becky was an active volunteer with programs for children and families, as well as the hospitality realm at church. She worked as a preschool teacher for four years before switching careers to focus on her calling to work with children, youth and families, growing and exploring faith and supporting each other with the love only God can give. In her free time, Becky loves to knit, read, downhill and water ski, play the piano, visit her family cabin, cook for the people she loves and spend time with her family.
