Dear Parents/Guardians of Nursery Children,
Welcome to the Minnetonka United Methodist Church nursery! Nursery care at Minnetonka United Methodist Church is designed to provide a safe, enjoyable and loving environment in which infants, children (until they begin Kindergarten) and adults can interact. Once a child begins Kindergarten, they are invited to further their faith formation by participating in Sunday School. We would like to share some of our policies and procedures with you so that you know what to expect when your child is in the nursery.
A paid nursery attendant will care for the children in the nursery from 9:45 AM - 11:15 AM on Sundays (if worship runs late, the nursery will remain open until 11:30 AM at the latest). A paid attendant will be provided on Wednesday evenings from 6:15 PM until 8:00 PM (at the latest) and at other times as needed and upon request. A first aid kit is kept in the nursery and our nursery attendants have all completed a course in CPR and first aid.
We follow the appropriate mandates in our Safe Gatherings Policy (a copy of which should be kept in the nursery at all times). All attempts will be made to have the nursery door open whenever possible. If the door needs to be closed, nursery curtains will be pulled back.
You will be asked to complete a registration/information form with useful information about your child when you first visit the nursery. We will keep this form on file to help us provide the best possible care for your child on subsequent visits. You may also supply any personal materials that your child might need, such as bottles or a favorite comfort toy. The nursery attendant will attempt to learn and accommodate possible allergies.
Nursery toys are washed/cleaned regularly, and food should never be present in the nursery, though infant bottles are always permitted.
Parents/Guardians sign children in and out of the nursery on an attendance sheet. This sheet will also ask for a cell phone number. If the nursery attendant needs to contact you, they will do so via text message. As a result, we ask that you keep your phone on vibrate when your child is in the nursery. Unless arranged otherwise at drop off, the same individual will be expected to sign children in and out of the nursery on a given day.
If you have any remaining questions or suggestions on how we can further improve the care we offer, please feel free to speak with the nursery attendant or call the church office at (763) 295-2652. Again, welcome! We are eager for this to be an enjoyable and comfortable experience for both you and your child.
Sincerely,
Rev. Carrie Binnie
