Beloved

Series: Broken Yet Beloved

January 07, 2024 | Rev. Carrie Binnie

Passage: Matthew 3:13-17

The words God proclaimed at Jesus' baptism are true for all of God's children: WE are God's beloved; the ones with whom God is well pleased. Unfortunately, we don't always treat one another in a way that reflects the way God sees us. We try to hide from the world all we fear may diminish us from society's standards--including our challenges with mental health. Maybe it's time to revisit Scripture, follow Jesus' lead and stand against social stigmas and with persons affected by mental health conditions. Maybe it's time to be the Church….

Series Information

One in every four U.S. adults experiences mental illness each year. Mental health is a subject of great importance yet is too often brushed under the rug by society, family, friends and the Church. This winter, we’ll examine stories from the Bible related to mental health and develop a tool kit for personal use. Join us as we ponder how we might proactively begin the New Year with a greater awareness of and compassion for those affected by mental health challenges.
